Erupting Volcano As Seen From The ISS

This photo, taken by astronauts aboard the International Space Station, shows the incredible vantage point they were privy to in 2009 when they witnessed an eruption of the highly active Sarychev Volcano.

According to NASA, the ash from the volcanic blast was so hot that it actually caused the cool air at cloud level to part, giving this stunning view of the blast extending out into the atmosphere, framed by the parting clouds.
